Title: Mrs. Walke’s Literacy Page
Content: There are a variety of helpful links on this webpage, including: TN lesson plan templates, Scott Foresman Reading Street Grade Level Websites, links to district and school web sites, district assessment materials, district sight word (Fry list) materials, photos, and ideas for read-alouds and United Streaming videos.
Summary: A teacher/literacy coach from Jefferson County, TN has compiled this web page, and the main attraction is the Scott Foresman Reading Street materials. Most of the grade levels (K-5) have not only the textbook links but also teacher-created lessons, unit plans, and Internet resources that pair with the textbook materials. Each unit has a PowerPoint presentation and the unit maps from the text (at the bare minimum.)
Strengths: This is a fantastic resource for any elementary teacher who teaches with Scott Foresman Reading Street materials. Some grade level resources are abundant with valuable, usable, and relevant content/materials/links. The site is easy to navigate and there are no advertisements, either pop-up or embedded, in the site. Its creation is purely to support elementary teachers, and it is successful in its mission.
Weaknesses: There is a disproportionate amount of materials amongst the different grade levels. For example, the second grade link has so many links that I had to scroll down quite a bit to explore all of the materials, yet the fourth grade link provides only the textbook unit maps and a PowerPoint presentation.
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 for the general elementary teacher; 5 out of 5 for elementary teachers who use the Scott Foreseman Reading Street series.
